RIM and the Helen Hamlyn Centre asked Cian Plumbe of Studiohead to explore the concept of 'Seamless Mobility' and how emerging technologies may impact on daily life in the near future. The research centred on the shifting dynamics of working lives away from a work/life balance towards more of a work-life blend. It also encapsulates an effort to expand RIM's appeal outside its traditional business market by concentrating on enabling 'life' in this work-life blend.

Four work-life styles were identified, and six design concepts were generated around real peoples' needs. The result was design direction and foresight presented in the form of an animated video. The video below illustrates the evening of a traveling businessman and shows how the new Blackberry concepts actively connect him with his home life. The video received a lot of praise for its clarity of vision and presentation style.
